Welcome to The Lieder Academy.
Welcome to The Lieder Academy! The Academy is now just one year old and in that short time we have gained a reputation as the Netherlands leading specialist site for the wonderful world of Art Song. This discipline of poetic texts set in an intimate musical support offers both listener and performer an opportunity to delve into the details of the human psyche through the medium of melody, harmony and poetry.
The main priority of the Academy is to provide, through classes, concerts and recordings, a stress free, friendly atmosphere to anyone who wishes to perform or listen to this beautiful music. With this in mind we organised our first ‘Lieder Cafe‘ on the 1st October in Rotterdam. It was such a success that we have arranged a second evening on the 5th November. A place to talk music, have a drink and if you want, sing a few songs with your pianist, or you can use ours. This is surely the closest ideal to the original ‘Schubertiade’, it promises to be a memorable evening, the first of many, and there will be a surprise guest.
Pop-up mini-masterclasses are also scheduled to appear in the new season. You can hire our ‘mini-classes‘ for your own organisation or for your musical friends. We are currently organising these mini-classes in various towns in Belgium and the Netherlands.
In March 2016 the Lieder Academy represented the world of Lieder at the Harmos Festival in Portugal.

Finally, money! Nothing comes for free, but it is our wish that singers and pianists should not have to pay hundreds or even thousands to participate in classes and recordings etc, so the Lieder Academy will be running a fund raising page in the very near future.
